二 | (ECNS) -- Authorities in Xiamen City, Fujian Province, have launched an investigation into a local disinfection company accused of using a highly toxic pesticide to disinfect popular chain restaurants. According to the Beijing News, the company allegedly used dichlorvos, a toxic agricultural pesticide, to provide routine disinfection services for dozens of well-known chain restaurants, including Green Tea, Xianqi Banbudian, Chi Nai, Fengyuanjia and Yisushi. In a statement released Monday, the joint investigation team in Huli District said authorities had received public complaints about the company and launched an immediate probe. Inspectors collected evidence at the site, conducted sampling and testing, and seized all remaining chemicals held by the company. The company's operations in Huli district have been shut down. Authorities pledged to punish any violations in accordance with the law. A citywide inspection of local disinfection service providers is underway to identify and address irregularities, with zero tolerance for illegal practices in the industry.
